The Australian stock market is slightly higher on Tuesday, extending the gains in the previous three sessions, with the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 staying above the 6,700 level, following the broadly negative cues from Wall Street overnight, boosted largely by strong rebound in gold miners, materials and energy stocks, partially offset by weakness in technology and financial stocks.

The Hong Kong stock market has finished higher in three consecutive trading days, collecting more than 1,200 points or 5.8 percent along the way. The Hang Seng Index now rests just beneath the 22,230-point plateau although investors may cash in on Tuesday.

The China stock market has finished higher in three straight sessions, gathering more than 110 points or 3.5 percent along the way. The Shanghai Composite Index now sits just beneath the 3,380-point plateau although the rally may stall on Tuesday.

The Taiwan stock market has moved higher in two straight sessions, rallying more than 370 points or 1.5 percent along the way. The Taiwan Stock Exchange now rests just beneath the 15,550-point plateau although it's predicted to open in the red on Tuesday.

The Singapore stock market has tracked higher in back-to-back sessions, advancing almost 45 points or 1.5 percent along the way. The Straits Times Index now rests just above the 3,135-point plateau although it's looking at a soft star on Tuesday.

The Malaysia stock market has moved higher in two straight sessions, gathering more than 7 points or 0.5 percent along the way. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index now rests just beneath the 1,440-point plateau although it's expected to open under pressure on Tuesday.
