Social Trading Broker for a Newbie

The biggest risk for me with these social trading platforms is the anonymity of the people you are copying. You never know who stays behind - is it a fake account run by unscrupulous broker or someone else who got lucky for a while. After all ask yourself a question - will these tools help you be profitable and make informed reasonable decisions.

Hi guys, I'm afraid there is no best strategy that fits everyone's needs. Trading microlots is a wise approach if you are new to trading. But you will need to be very patient as you won't be earning a lot per trade. What is your style - intraday or swing?

Good advice, a classic one and always applicable, except of flash crashes.
Do you prefer fixed spreads or dynamic spreads?

I am trading FX with dynamic spreads since the very beginning. I guess this is what I am used to. I agree with Carlos about the mark-up in the spread. This is important for the costs and performance.

DEMO ACCOUNT vs LIVE ACCOUNT

Demo is helpful to get a good grip of all the techniques in trading as well as experiment with indicators and the signals they can give. Also the effect of lot size, leverage, spread and commissions are quite well demonstrated. If someone is starting from zero, demo is the important addition to reading guidebooks how to trade. Dealing with the psychology of things is more advanced and only live account can help here.

Yes, it bounced up a bit and I can see a slight upward momentum getting away from the oversold area. Still bearish but we may well see a reverse in this trend. I will wait until I have stronger signal before placing the next trades.

If you are unsure about a broker, always check their regulation licence on the regulator website. There you can see if they are market makers or not and do your research as well. Social trading is a very good option but you have to carefully select who to copy 😄 I agree with Livingrock about the positions size. But also define your preferred instruments. With some brokers you have more FX pairs and with some also CFDs. I could advise you not to use high leverage for FX at the beginning - not more than 1:100. This will enable you to start by opening just a few minilots. Have a successfu...

I enjoy reading the comments on this topic. Very useful tips and I am a strong believer in auto trading as well! 😄 of course backed up by solid testing first.

If all strategies will fail at any time, why not changing the strategy then to remain successful? How can we address the complexity of the forex market with simplicity?

For me the best way to build a good trading strategy is true practicing and learning from your mistakes. No matter how much books you read the knowledge will never be full without real actual trading, simply because market is kind-a hard to predict. For this purpose I prefer to use demo account to test different ideas/ strategies ect.

If you already have a lot of knowledge, but you still feel insecure, maybe you should try to improve yourself with a Demo account. This way you will not lose any real money, but you can create the perfect strategy to make you feel comfortable. I hope this helps you out.

I have been trying several Brokers in the Past (Pepperstone, IG and FXCM). Currently i trade all my FX via JFD and the CFDs via IG. All withdrawals fast (2-3 days). Downside is that JFD is missing a web-portal for withdrawals but beside of this never had any issues. FX execution super good. By far better than Pepperstone. The CFDs are more expensive then IG, this is why i stick trading CFDs via IG. For FX i can recommend JFD 100% without any doubts. RegardsAlexandre Gauthier
