Your preference - what leverage to prove a system and still control risk?

With a smaller amount of real leverage applied on each trade, you can afford to give your trade more breathing room by setting a wider but reasonable stop and avoiding risking too much of your money. A highly leveraged trade can quickly deplete your trading account if it goes against you, as you will rack up greater losses due to bigger lot sizes. Keep in mind that leverage is totally flexible and customizable to each trader's needs. Having an aim of trading profitably is not about making your millions by the end of this month or this year.

If you are an active trader, day trading and swing trading will feel like second cousins. At the end of the day both trade methodologies seek to make short-term profits based on price fluctuations in the market.
Oanda versus FXCM

OANDAPros:- They allow you to trade in exactly the amount of units that you want, not being forced to trade in lots, minilots or microlots.- They offer MT4 and fxTrade, which is not a bad platform. However fxTrade's grids sometimes are not clear enough to see in one sight all the details of the trade.- As they offer MT4 you can monitor and have open as many charts as you want.Cons:- Don't close daily candles with NY session close, which is a big problem at least for me.FXCMPros:- They offer NY session close for daily bars.- Trading Station II looks like a nice platform, I'm doing c...
Martingale system

To understand the basics behind the martingale strategy, let's look at a simple example. Suppose we had a coin and engaged in a betting game of either heads or tails with a starting wager of $1. There is an equal probability that the coin will land on heads or tails, and each flip is independent, meaning that the previous flip does not impact the outcome of the next flip. As long as you stick with the same directional view each time, you would eventually, given an infinite amount of money, see the coin land on heads and regain all of your losses, plus $1. The strategy is based on the premi...

Traders should not obsess with their day-to-day profit & loss. Rather, they should shoot for consistent positive months, quarters, and years with minimal draw downs. You do not want to be the “boom and bust” trader who does well in a strong market but gives it back during market corrections. These guys are a dime a dozen and typically get blown out of the market at key pivot points

Pure gold (99.9 purity) also moved down by a similar margin to end at Rs 28,070 per 10 grams as against Rs 28,175 last weekend. However, silver (.999 fineness) climbed by Rs 115 to close at Rs 38,875 per kg as compared to Rs 38,760 previously. On the global front, gold prices eased in early trade as buyers cashed in gains after the metal posted its biggest monthly rise in three years, but a shaky outlook for the global economy underpinned its appeal as a haven from risk.Spot gold was bid down at $1276.80 in early European trading and silver moved down at $17.15 an ounce.
How to see performance by Magic Number?

You should, however, be able to use the same EA with the same magic number for multiple symbols without needing to change anything. Just as long as the orders are selected for processing by their symbol (which they should be).The only scenario where you would need a different magic number should be if you used the same EA on the same symbol but on different timeframes. Then you would need different magic numbers to ensure that the M5 instance didn't close trades from the M30 instance and vice-versa.
Money management vs Martingale....

Feb 02, 2015 at 20:26
martingale is a very risky method of investing. The main idea behind the Martingale system is that statistically you cannot lose all the time, and therefore you should increase the amount allocated in investments--even if they are declining in value--in anticipation of a future increase. The Martingale system is commonly compared to betting in a casino. When a gambler using this method loses, he or she doubles his or her bet. By repeatedly doubling the bet when he or she loses, the gambler will (in theory) eventually even out with a win. Of course, this is assuming the gambler has an unlimited...

Simply put, risk management is a two-step process - determining what risks exist in an investment and then handling those risks in a way best-suited to your investment objectives. Risk management occurs everywhere in the financial world. It occurs when an investor buys low-risk government bonds over more risky corporate debt, when a fund manager hedges their currency exposure with currency derivatives and when a bank performs a credit check on an individual before issuing them a personal line of credit.
