Ah, this is a very good pair and I was just testing some strategies for it last week. You can use any reliable broker for the pair that is offering lower spreads. I have been trading with Pepperstone, Xtb, Fxview, etc. I stick to major pairs so these platforms are fine for that. If you time it well, you can get some solid profits.

At some point, it becomes a kind of need to adjust with the market and know how things work there. As far as learning goes, it is present in every step starting from finding a broker to opening an account to trade.

I am still waiting for a trade that I can call my most successful trade. I have made some decent returns in the past but I don’t consider any of them as my most successful trade. I am sure that I can do better and have recently started to trade with Fxview and XTB that put no restrictions on trading style. So I suppose now I’ll be in a better position to trade as per my market analysis. My most successful trade is yet to come and I will share it here in some time. :)

I can second that since I’ve been using XM and Fxview’s ECN too. The spreads are tight and the leverage is also fine. I try to keep the leverage low but then for some particular trades, it is got to be high. I mean if you’re not risking much, you won’t earn more profits, right?

There are options like Pepperstone, Swissquote, XM, Xtb, Forex.com, Fxview. I have used them all so I know how it must be. You can always begin with a demo account in my opinion and experience a platform. This will give you a fair idea of what the services and conditions of a platform are.

Mike, I agree with you and as a scalper I can say that it took me quite some time to learn the various aspects of it. I was hesitant to begin with it at first since I’ve heard people say that it is just for beginners but once you get to the learning part, it gets interesting. Have to keep working for it.

For scalping, make sure you have access to the market through a reliable source. When you’re looking for a broker, make the necessary inquiries and go over the broker agreement properly. Since I’ve been using so many brokers like Xm, Pepperstone, Fxview, etc., I know how careful one has to be while picking a broker. Since you are planning to scalp, I suggest you must try the broker platform and practice for an idea.

I agree that it is essential to test a broker before you risk your money with it. For that purpose, demo accounts are of great help as you get to practice as many strategies as you want without having to put your money to risk. And the best part is that nearly all brokers offer demo accounts. You just have to select a broker, create your demo account with it, and you are good to go.

All I care is that spreads should be low and tight. I don’t mind both and I use brokers that are anyway offering tight ones. Oanda, XTB, Fxview are my choice. Their platforms are easy to use and the transaction cost is also low.
How can we find a reliable platform?

There is another way which I use for looking at brokers, which is to use them. I use their demos, got nothing to lose.

Will then it qualify for scalping, I know everyone’s got a different definition to everything but I think many would agree that scalping is trading smaller than hourly time frames. If I am to give my example, I am a part time scalper who trades M5 charts with M30 to confirm signals. The autochartist that I use on Fxview (it’s free on the site) helps track past price movements which sometimes helps. Even tradingview which I use with Oanda is also good for analysis. At the same time I also use the 4hour trading strategy on GBP/USD which would come under day trading, not scalping.

Choosing the right type of spreads is more of a personal choice. Just because variable spreads work better for me, I can’t be sure that they will work for you also. You will have to determine that yourself.

I really don’t think that using fixed spreads or variable spreads has much impact on your bottom line as a trader. It is your trading style and risk appetite that determine the best spread structure that you must opt for.

I am not sure about others but I usually trade with ECN brokers that offer transparent trading environments. And because of this, it doesn’t really matter whether I am using variable spreads or fixed ones.
