Sensex, Nifty Little Changed In Early Trade

(RTTNews) - Indian shares were little changed in cautious trade on Wednesday after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to raise tariffs on Indian goods "very substantially" within 24 hours, citing India's continued purchases of Russian oil.
The benchmark BSE Sensex was down 35 points at 80,675 while the broader NSE Nifty index slid 30 points to 24,619.
Hero MotoCorp fell 1.1 percent, Bajaj Auto edged down slightly, and Divis Laboratories gave up 1.5 percent ahead of their earnings results due today.
Lupin, Sun Pharma and Dr Reddy's Laboratories all fell around 1 percent after Trump told CNBC planned tariffs on pharmaceuticals imported into the U.S. could eventually reach as high as 250 percent.
Britannia Industries fell nearly 2 percent as Q1 net profit missed estimates. Prestige Estates Projects shed 1.2 percent on disappointing results.
Bharti Airtel gained 1 percent after reporting a 43 percent year-on-year rise in its June quarter net profit.
PB Fintech rose about 1 percent after reports that it has acquired Pensionbazaar(dot)com, making it a wholly owned subsidiary.
Torrent Power climbed 1 percent despite reporting a 25 percent fall in quarterly profit.
