Well to your suprise, Canadian forex brokers are NOT among the best, far from it. Canada's retail forex industry is WAY behind countries like US (until CFTC stepped in and killed it a bit), UK (the best), and even Australia. Canada's retail forex industry is mostly comprised of brokers extended to Canada from the US and UK. The only native Canadian retail forex broker is Questrade which started out as a stock daytrading firm and got into retail forex after sensing "a change in the wind". The only problem that I have with them is the $20 that they charge for withdrawing funds from them. Those are my hard-earned profits and I shouldn't have to pay extra to get my money back. Everything else is superb with this broker.

The ONLY things good about IB is its tight spread and low commission (BUT they charge you extra commissions for converting your profits back to the funding currency of your account) and their customer service in Canada. The customer service for IB US for Forex is still horrible and totally clueless. But their Java platform for Forex, FXTrader is one of the WORST among all the ECN brokers; it's slow and full of bugs. When their system is busy, when you click on a currency pair in FXTrader, the order will show up for the wrong currency pair and because the software is slow it takes a whil...

If one day the euro crashes, there would be NO safe currencies left. Everybody will be flocking to gold. For the time being, holding some CHF will be good if you are REALLY concerned about the erosion of value in your euro. Good trading!
