So @compuforexpamm, where exactly in this is the conversion to compare say a JPY position to a EURO position or a USD position to compare "once the threshold has been crossed across the multiple pair average "? Each pair has to go to a single value to be comparable. That code is useless for his purposes.

Yeah. Ditch the technical analysis. It's useless in fx. Half of the indicators are volume based for starters and there are no accurate volumes for fx. Secondly you're trying to apply linear methods to non-linear systems in an information age where guys like me are doing a few million calculations a day. You want to pitch up to the fight with a couple of lines ?!

As a footnote. The people who can do these calcs are the ones who can trade fx. It's an absolute minimum requirement in my humble opinion.

Well, you can start by clearly defining what you want to do. I can see you haven't. You're talking about apples and pears. First its BE on multiple orders (or is that positions as orders haven't been hit yet to create positions ?) and then it's multiple pairs average, so how does that work on say Eurusd at 1.20 v. UsdJpy on 121.00 something ? What's the average of a 100 units EurUsd at 1.20 and 112 units UsdJpy at 121.00? To do what you want to do, if I read it correctly, you'd have to work out the weighted average on each pair you're trading, and then convert ALL O...
Selling of profitable EA make sense!?

I do see good EA's for sale. But by the time you can recognise them your own are probably just as good. There are reasons for people to sell good working EA's. If you don't have a lot of funds it can always be a boost, although the managed account is probably better way to go, you only need to get it right for 4 or 5 years before you likely have enough funds to just do your own. Most people in fx don't have money. That's why they get into fx in the first place. What you as an EA buyer need to understand is you don't have the skill set to handle EA's. The guy who wr...

Thank heavens I'm off that train. Ditched MT4 years ago, far to slow to be of practical use for me.

@ridethetorpedo Yeah my tips are all over the place. Don't try predict fx it's impossible, make the money from managing your portfolio. Get the trade sizes right, don't use tp or stops. Don't try trade fx. Trading is what you do to adjust your position. Manage your positions. That's about it.

And by the way, stops like take profits are extremely harmful for a portfolio. Get your trade sizes right, then you don't need them and then you have time to make decisions.

@wortrader - Because the markets are manipulated fundamental also doesn't work. I think my gains averaged out at about 30% this week, in markets that I know are heavily manipulated. You problem @Greggy is yourself. And this stupid notion that need to be able to read markets to make money from them. The algo's you're up against are run by guys like me. We don't draw pretty lines. We crunch numbers, lots and lots of it. Over and over and over. High volumes of repetitive tasks. I've got over 50 GIG ram going at any given time and I am short on resources. My data usage is over ...

There is manipulation. There's always been, there will always be. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/may/20/banks-hit-by-record-57bn-fine-for-rigging-forex-marketsThe make so much money from it, the fines don't even matter, they'll pay, say sorry and simply carry on. Why would they stop ? No one goes to jail, the fines are to small to have much impact. So it's business as usual.

Or maybe we should all just automate and the problem goes away. I realised many years ago I was the weak link in all of this. So I automated myself out of the process. Never looked back.

I don't sell anything @c3po. I don't have any managed accounts. I don't need to. I'm simply trying to help and I keep on getting kicked in the teeth for it by people like you. I should probably just stop.Fact of the matter is I was in the same position as Greggy here a few years ago, the difference is I got off my arse and did something about it. I spent the money, time and effort to go do coding courses. Simple. I did something for myself. But the prevailing mindset here is give me the secret. Doesn't work like that. You have to earn your knowledge in fx. It's when you...

You can't. It's not the 10 lines of code that makes it work anyway, it's the 1000 lines managing it.

@Greggy Write your code. Write thousands of systems till you know what you're doing and you'll wake up one day and suddenly have the code. Simple as that.
