ohh by the wway, I dont know if it matters, but I use Forexvps so I can Remote desktop from my Nokia phone from work :) works like charm,
This is possible with remote desktop in general. It has nothing to do with the vps service.

I have the "MetaTrader VPS" with VirtualServers.com. I have had it for 3 months now, and so far so good. When I signed up, the price was 15 EUR/month, now it seems they have risen the price a bit. Their service has been very nice so far. I've called them a few times on the phone, and if you can manage with their Scottish dialect, it shouldn't be any problem. 😁
They have an SLA which guarantee 99.99% uptime, and they reply fast on email. I'm satisfied. 😁

Yes, they have had several problems recently; sudden server restarts, sometimes 10 minutes downtime. Last weekend, my VPS was down a few hours. Luckily it was during the weekend and not during weekdays. Due to my problems, they have given me 4 months credit, so my next payment is sometime in May/June.
Their phone support has changed from 24/7 to 8/5, but they answer on email 24/7.
Even though they have had these problems, I still keep up with them. One of the reasons are that the latency to my broker (FXPro) is only 5 ms.
Whoever said money can't buy happiness didn't know where to shop.

CNS has a latency of 1ms from their UK server to FXPro regards their page. What helps you 5ms latency when their server isn't up????????

well I'll add my 2 cents ... it's easy to run mt4 on linux with wine ... also with linux-ha you could setup a high availability system (when one server goes down (crashes, kernel panics (blue death screen on windows), gets hacked etc), the other takes over within 30 sec) ...
it's not easy but can be done ;;;;
also for those that want to make sure their MT4 is up ... you can have the script or EA written that listens on some TCP port and some test app that connects to it every 1 minute ... that way you will receive an SMS only if the system goes down

We are using http://fxsystemhosting.com which is a normal windows vps or dedicated server, not specific to mt4. We find this is better as it's just a normal windows box with no special fx software. Latency is low as it's in a large data center. We have bad experience with some fx specific vps do not want to name them.

I have been very happy with Commercial Network Services. I have used them for over a year and the only downtime has been for scheduled maintenance/ reboot on a Saturday. They have a help guide that gives step by step instructions on how to setup your account so that everything will reboot automatically (by running your software as a service) if the servier ever does go down.
I was very impressed at the end of last month when they sent out a rather long and detailed email describing particular problems that some customers of a certain broker were having because their MtT4 terminals were constantly disconnecting. They traced the problem back to the broker & their technology provider and went as far as to include the brokers responses in the email and warn customers to watch their accounts closely if they traded with this particular broker until the issue gets resolved.
It is this kind of understanding of forex traders needs that makes me a strong proponent of using a VPS that does market to forex traders.

sorry i am a newbie.
FXCM is offering free VPS for those who open account with them. any opinion regarding this?
thanks inadvance for the opinion. it is much appreciated
I had it, use it and works well, but it is very controlled and you can only use one account at a time, either Demo or Live, but not both at the same time. Uploading EA's and indicators can be a pain. If you really want a freebie, try IamFX, as far as I know it is the only web-based VPS that really works..but again same limitations.

I use Bodhost, but will switching over to hyper-V technology...here's some info, not selling anything so I X-out the provider's name, just trying to help.
":Unlike other companies like VPSLand and SWVPS and Commercial Network Services who use Virtuozzo technology for providing virtual servers. XXXX is using Hyper-V technology which is quite newer and has a lot of benefits over Virtuozzo for customers.
I am not going to dig into technical details , but you should only know that on Virtuozzo you don't get dedicated resources ! all resources you get are virtual , they are share between all users on server and hosting companies oversell their server to provide lower prices. so it is not suitable for MT4 Hosting.
but on Hyper-V technology , resources are dedicated for users and when it is assigned to a VPS. it will be reserved no matter if the VPS uses it or not. it prevents hosting companies from overselling the server , so it has a much better speed and stability.
If you search on Google for other Hyper-V providers ....

thanks so much for the info. it is very much appreciated. i already subscribe to FXCM VPS. i just worry the risk of conflict of interest here. since i am new, i will continue to use it and see what happened from here. i agreed it is a pain for uploading EA or indicator . since i will only use one live account, it is fine for me. i will keep posting if encountered any new experiences.

Hyper-V sounds good if overloaded servers are a worry for you. I'm with http://www.forexvps.com and my stats are incredible because they dont overload the servers with clients. I have 25ms access to my provider and a http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest of 16.78mb upload / 9.83 mb download - My home cable connect is 12.67 up / 0.45 down PLUS I've have 100% uptime for months. After my VPSLand debacle no way am I leaving these folks!

I'm using VPSland from december 2009, and i would say that i'm fully satisfied, firs of all the price is one of the most competitive on the market!!! Service is not bad too, i had quick answer to my submitted tickets, even if priority was selected as "Low". 512 RAM is enough for me to run more then 10 MT4 platforms. Only once the server was down on weekend and they offered me a compensation for one month, (which i didnt even ask).
If you a news trader, you should choose a closest VPS to your broker server.
