We have right now faced the biggest DD of the keltner history (includind 12 years of BT) and i have not stopped it, so will not stop next time too. The fact that a DD will occurr again is normal and sure. I do not run Eas on emotional decisions, i make my evaluations based on personal procedures. Only when some of my rules are brocken i stop an EA (or i downgrading it, so running it not on my bigger accounts, but on smaller ones). Running eas randomly and then stopping them at the first DD to jump on another crap is the receipe for disaster. Some people learn from misatkes, other do not. But again, this always happened and will continue, and it is necessary that things goes like this in trading. But we do not need continues 'memento mori'. We know that one day we will die 😁

The right approach is a consrtructive approach. If then u consider that a startegy is not for you, simply go ahead and choose another one (and post about this).

EA backtesting from other (NOT SynergyFX) broker in attachments...

For now my EA is working well and the trades are 90% the same... I tested also Vortex trader PRO and after couple of weeks I put request on that site for money back and I got it back - every dollar. So for now no scam here...

I would be curious to know what the performance of KeltnerPro would be if it was coded with a trailing stop feature in order to lock in orders that are in profit.

KeltnerPro's Friday Oct 6, 2015 trades got stopped out on Monday after failing to reach its take profit level (it came very close before the market direction changed). I advise there should be protocols added to the EA to tighten its TP / SL on a Friday.

No man, you are going to limit your overall profit gains! Unless you can provide a solid case in the sense of some backtest I suggest you don't ask for such things. The author has clearly put in the time to develop a solid strategy that works in the long term and is not time sensitive. For the most part trades are not usually held over the weekend anyways so it would be a complete waste of time and over complicate the settings for putting this in. If you want to close a trade on Friday just do it yourself! Or apply the breakeven filter that has already been put in.

Considering I do not have the original source code I cannot make any such modifications to the EA in an attempt to improve it hence cannot provide a case. I am merely implying that the EA could be improved in some fashion.

I agree that if a user wants to close the trade early on Fridays they are free to do so. But for a full-auto EA I am merely suggesting some mechanism of caution on Fridays as part of overall risk management. Of course that's up to the creator to decide and test on if they so desire. Nevertheless potentially beneficial user feedback should be considered also if the aim is improvement to a system.

I definetely agree. I guess the purpose of this forum should also be to give a feedback to the author to help him improve the EA.

Have been looking at KeltnerPro and did a bit of Symbol versus hour trade opened versus P/L to look for hours and symbols that maybe should be avoided.

Based on 18 months of live data via the MyFxBook account, here is what I found:

1) Don't trade AUDUSD

2) Don't trade broker (GMT+3) hr 0 - 9, 14, 16, 18, 23

Would have doubled the profit. Here is a Excel pivot table with the data.

Profit graph:

Currently looking at the trades and closes to see if it is possible to improve the open and/or close.

I managed to do some more in-depth analysis of KeltnerPro's performance. Definitely might be worth trading only GBPUSD+USDCHF for the time being. The other pairs might indicate a need for optimizing/recalibrating the EA's parameters.

Just realized that basing the chart on account balance might skew the real underlying performance due to leverage, so I re-did the whole thing adjusted in pips. Also I skipped EURGBP as there weren't many trades (no trades since June 2014).

I also combined EURUSD with GBPUSD+USDCHF since EURUSD is still a significant contributor to overall performance when adjusted in pips:

Actual performance of EURUSD in pips:

I've managed to do some backtests on the GBPUSD M5 pair for 2014-2015 at different risk setting. One is 5%, the other is at 43%:

I was trying to replicate the results as seen in the live account history, but I get something more interesting instead:

My only conclusion is that the lot sizing logic on the live version is a bit different.

He is using Fixed lots. He decided to not reduce lotsize trying to get faster recovery, but of course this is risky
