Thanks, I'll try that.It may also be that the account I've taken over, had been managed by someone else years ago and clearly hadn't done very well and as you say, the archiving thing may have made the difference

Just to add in - the history is showing the % levels wrong..... Its adding a decimal place - so whats actually 2% on the account balance is showing as 0.2% on myfxbook history BUT not for all of the entries... WTH!Any ideas?

Hey AllI seem to be having a problem in an account linked from fxcm. The stats box is right, the abs gain is right, the pip count in the monthly graphs is right, but then the actual monthly % is way off ..... and actually shows negative, even though im on the account right now and the profits are there....Is this a formatting issue? There are plenty of things out there to help.Bloomberg is a good source of free information to keep in touch. Talking-Forex is decent as they give you daily market wraps. I use a service called Ransquawk more than anything but they are pricey

90% of traders fail... everyone knows it.... but WHY?Most people put it down to psychology, or system chasing etc .... but I propose there's another reason, one that probably applies to most new traders:FUNDAMENTALS....Without Fundamentals you are gambling... trading on the CHANCE that a pattern if traded enough will eventually win.... Regarding Martingale - its taking the roulette red/black theory and applying it to trading... in my early days (about 10 years ago) i spent 6 months taking my first live account from $100 to $600 (admittedly risking too much at the time) using Martingale.... the problem is, once you get stuck in a range you're in a mess.... My start risk % was 1% and i would only trade one pair at a time, and yet I watched Martingale blow the entire account in 4 hours.... Martingale is like a ticking bomb - it lures you into a false sense of security... then one day when you are sitting confident you watch...

Well in terms of trading news there aren't really indicators (in my opinion) that can match human intuition and knowledge. Personally I use a pretty good news feed that gives me the info i need in terms of what moves the markets and the potential repercussions etc. If im scalping some news ie after the AUD - ill just scalp through 1 session (in that case the London session) or until i hear more news that could affect currencies in that pair and turn the move around. I use Ransquawk for everything news related - But it isn't cheap - its £150 a month .

LOL at Owen - well the scalping opps were for yesterday. Im waiting on the FOMC commentary before trading any USD pairs now. I wouldn't be surprised if the "patience" phrasing comes back into play...If that's the case ill be looking to go long on the GBPUSD. the GBP has strengthened a lot today and some institutional analysts are putting it down to Shell buying BP Group (because they may be looking at exchanging currency to GBP to make the purchase) - that's a potential 47billion pounds that could get pumped into the UK which isn't small...

Well my verified profit and the people who scalped the pair after reading the blog say otherwise,,, no offence, but maybe if you'd read the blog you would have seen that the whole idea was to look for short term trades....
