sure that's right and it is not.....but there is a simple approach to that, a management structure requires a certain set-up. To realize that might be the first step to enter serious trading. Some basics are helpful as well:-Base currency should be the currency of daily needs (as i mentioned)-Swap-cost are related to your P/L. (if not in your base currency). -you can hedge your base in many ways if you think it is necessaryUnfortunately the comparison to physical exchange is as helpful as comparing $50 to $1000k accounts. There is not that much to say about your calculation above... it is ...

well if you trade for living or at least for improving the conditions of living :-) use the currency you need in your daily life as base currency (at least G7). Demoaccounts and $50 heros do not need think about this problem at all. (I know especially these people love to calculate irrelevant cost)All these cost mentioned above are just part of the game and it is up to you to select the appropriate broker. this one should be at least as trustworthy as you bank you use on daily basis. And some answers... well, i guess it is a dangerous business for some people...

well I have no statistics to prove that you are right or wrong...... just a small indication: even 50% of some of these fantastic results would result in massive accumulation of wealth and huge money inflows and I doubt it is the case... but I do not know for sure, I might have missed some piece of reality in the last couple of years

well in reality you need to find somedy who is willing to buy or sell at a certain price +time +amount..... in a demo there is always someone there. you just need to hit the button wherever you wish and a deal is executed......But I would heavily agree with @CrazyTrader demo results are in the long run far far away from real accounts. If you assume that demo is only 10% worse than reality, then some guys here are ultra rich and managing billions of USD..... well not sure that this scenario is really realistic. What do you think?

I guess it strongly depends on the definition of "trading" . On the other hand I never managed to get these type of massive returns so I had to and hopefully will have to trade full time. that might be an explanation after all :-)

After couple of years trading i am not that sure I know how markets really work, anyway. The most important question is do you believe any signal provider will generate you money in terms you are looking for extended period of time (like 3 years plus)? There are some really smart guys out there and from a certain track record you would be a holy man or a complete idiot to sell profitable "signals ".So do i think selling/buing signals is a bad idea ?... no not really. To use such a signal/TA might be a very profitable thing. As a diversifikator or as an indicator. Let use me as example....

Just a small question: why should broker do anything negativ regarding you P/L? Just for a broker who is paid by volumes traded, it should make some economic sense... i guess.

@conorp We probably might agree on the RM principles. Not sure how you manage to get this stable and from my experience above average :-) p/l but congratulations. Coming from slightly different trading environment, I do not mind to learn new approaches. I do not care if EAs are a good or bad thing.... they may generally deliver a new perspective. @sbresee Even a no s/l approach might be successful, but it is definitely not good for all assets and time might be the critical component. Our life cycle might put some restrictions in place. This bond issue, whats wrong with bonds?

I think long term registration at my fxbook might not replace market knowledge but ... conorp... did you expect a formula how to make x% every month? Well, you might get it... it is like always a question of risk... the risk level for x% a month is the same here as elsewhere..... So you might waste your time all your way up and down the miracles of portfoliomanagement :-)
