Yes, basic knowledge will not be beneficial if you do not consider opening an account with any forex broker. Being able to trade in demo will give you an experience on how trading would seems like in live trading, except that there is no real money.

If you are not able to make a consistency profit after many try, it is best to stop and take a break before you can trade again. Alternatively, it is quite useful to set the stop loss to minimize the losses if the trade is taking unexpected turn

With demo, you just know that the monetary aspect when trading is not real, so you are not mentally affected when you made some losses, that's why it is easier to trade in demo.

Indeed. looking at the number of times people get into issues in forex, its our responsibility to double check the broker's genuineness before we start trading with them, else we'll only end up wasting money with such scammers. As a pro tip, its always better to be with regulated brokers such as fxview, xm or icm so we dont expose ourselves to any kinda risk.

For your requirements, I would suggest some Ecn broker like Fxview with whom you can get narrow spreads, low commissions. As for leverage as much as I know they offer high leverage to professional accounts only, but you can still confirm as I prefer to not use anything more than 20-25X.
