Had a major stop on one trade resulting in a 10% hit on the account.

I checked the history of the loss and found that the trade had come within 0.3 pips of winning, and it was the wide spreads used by Oanda that caused this trade to miss its target.

I have now (18/05/17) reduced the TP to 7 which should reduce the likelihood of this happening again.

I'm sorry to say that forexSteam EA promoted by forexrobotnation.com is scam. They have been promoting this EA by showing their demo result, not a single verified real one

Yeah, I suspected this too, hence why I'm running these tests using my own verified accounts.

I know that they don't post their big losses, and any negative comments are either removed or remain unpublished on their 'blog'.

The EA itself does seem to have merit, but the one huge drawback is the potential 10% loss that it can incur, which I hope to see the full effect of with these tests.

The EA suffered major losses on Thursday and Friday last week, taking the account down to below the original starting balance.

This is not exclusively the fault of the EA though, as this was due to a number of factors, namely: unscheduled news concening the upcoming UK elections, causing the GBP and EUR to fluctuate badly and move in the opposite direction; Thursday was the last trading day of the month (never a good day to trade due to the liquidity being unpredictable); Friday was the first day of the month (again, never advisable to trade on that day for the same reasons); and the US Non-Farm Payroll figures were released.

Had I stopped the EA from trading Thursday and Friday (as I should have) then all would be good. So, mental note to bear this in mind in future!!

Further analysis of losses, however, seems to indicate that the EA loses most on trades taken between 08:00 and 20:00 (basically the London and New York sessions), so I shall be amending the parameters to restrict trading to just the Asian session and see how it performs.

I wasn't sure if the times used by Steam to restrict trading were server times or local times, so I set one account (Oanda) to use 22:00-10:00 and the other (FXOpen) to use 20:00-08:00.

The FXOpen EA launched its first trade at 18:30 local time (20:30 server time), proving that the times are server times. Unfortunately this trade lost for a full loss (10%), which would not have happened if I'd used 22:00-10:00 (which I have now changed it to), skewing the figures, but I'll be monitoring to see how well it recovers (if at all!).
