Germany Markit Manufacturing PMI
Based on a survey of 500 industrial enterprises, the Markit/BME Germany Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index gauges the performance of the manufacturing sector in Germany. Five individual indexes are used to calculate the composite index, with the weights as follows: New Orders (30%), Output (25%), Employment (20%), Suppliers Delivery Times (15%), and Stock of Items Purchased (10%). The Delivery Times index has been reversed so that it moves in the very same direction as the other four indices. A value above 50 indicates that the manufacturing sector has expanded in comparison to the previous month, a rating below 50 indicates that the manufacturing sector has contracted, and a reading of 50 indicates that there has been no alteration.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the EUR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the EUR.

German Ifo Business Sentiment Steadies In May
German business confidence stagnated in May as the deterioration in the current assessment was offset by the improvement in expectations, survey results from the ifo Institute showed on Monday. The business climate index registered 89.3 in May, unchanged from April. The score was forecast to improve to 90.3 from April's initially estimated value of 89.4.

German GDP Grows 0.2% As Estimated
The German economy expanded as initially estimated in the first quarter and avoided a recession, thanks to the rebound in investment and exports. Gross domestic product expanded 0.2 percent sequentially in the first quarter, in contrast to the 0.5 percent decrease in the preceding three months, Destatis reported Friday. The statistical office confirmed the flash estimate published on April 30.
