First of all, regulation doesn't = safety like people think and big regulated brokers have screwed people over in the past. Second, this isn't good advice. Just picking any old broker is reckless. I've read countless scam reports where people have lost thousands of dollars because of this mindset that they don't need to put effort into picking a broker and that any of them will do. Reputation and user reviews are important, but different brokers also have different prices and conditions that need to be compared to fit everyone's needs. It's kind of like shopping for car...

Hi! I'm also from the US. Of the brokers you listed, I'd probably go for Oanda, but I wound up opening an account with CedarFX myself after comparing the two because the prices were cheaper. I do remember coming closer to Oanda before finding them though.

I understand where this mindset comes from, but regulators don't just pay out those funds if you get burned by the broker. Look at what happened with Veracity, everyone's money got stuck and people were freaking out. Now they're closed and they were regulated. Not saying regulation is bad, just that it doesn't always provide the safety net people think it does. I think reading reviews from real people is the best indicator of safety.

100% agree on this. I think knowledge can go a long way when it comes to trading and skills can be learned, but not having adequate knowledge is a crucial mistake.

Agree with this. Along with withdrawal fees or hidden fees, I think cost and accessibility for withdrawals are super important. You also want to have easy to reach customer support in case you ever have a problem. The I move on to look at things like leverage or to make sure they offer everything I'm looking to trade.

Love this point of view. I think so many people are too quick to give up when something seems hard. We're all capable of becoming rich or changing our situation, but it often takes a lot of thought and action to get there.
