Hello traders,
I think if spending effort on developing trading robots is more worthwhile than on trading manually. At least that is right in my case. I used to spend a lot time to stare at the screen late at night 2-3 hours a night not including 1-2 hours a day in the afternoon, every day when the market is open.
Now I spend most of my time on creating trading robots since I found it is more rewarding: it helps me to come up a new strategy faster or to see if a strategy is not worth to spend more effort in.
For example, this is the test result of one of my new EA:

It bring 57% gain in 16 months with maximum DD of ~21%. I am still working on improving it's peformance. Then I will do foward test with fake money, then with real money.

I'm also from Nam....Namibia!!
But I spend a lot of time in south east Asia, mostly Thailand. Vietnam been on my short list, but just not getting there...looks stunning.

I think many countries are look beautifull. I intend to travel a lot to many different countries... when I gain 5% a month consistently in 5 years 😄

I been to a lot of countries, so much so I have two passports to try keep up with VISA's. Last time I checked I been around the world at least once.
And SE Asia is right up there. Funny things is people who live there don't know what they have. They're all of to the west fast as they can, but if you ask me, SE Asia is as paradisey as you can get. I love the scooter culture. The freedom, bars in the road, elephants storming past and always the small entrepreneur. No matter how small the business - it gets done.
99% of people in Asia is better at business than I am. I seen a kid make money from 2 tooth picks, 2 forks and jar of jam. I can't do that. Have to admire that...

As a fellow Vietnamese, I would like to help you with your automated trading strategy. Here are a few recommendations and you can ignore them if you already know them.
1) increase your test period from 1999 to 2010.
2) number of trades must be greater than 1,000 to have large enough statistical sample
3) use fixed 0.1 lot

You are right, Winsor, I need to test my EA with a longer test period. I will do that very soon. Right now I am trying to improve the performance for this test period. I expect to have a rate of return of at least 50% a year with less than 25% drawn down.

I made some change to the EA and now it has a better performance: 85.5% gain in 16 months with maximum DD ~ 22%.
