It is good idea to avoid trading xau and indicies too. Most of the brokers, even true ecn, are desk dealers (aka bucket shops) on metals and indices. So they will make sure that traders dont make significant money on those instruments.Trading currencie pairs only is better because of lower spreads, lower voltality and better liquidity.

When you say crazy that tells me your lazy. I did the offshore business last year to gain access to the premier brokers that offer real margin levels like XM at 888:1 up to 20K per account. The Dolt-Faggot 50:1 doesn't cut it. If you do have a good EA, the lower margin limits will cost you many thousands of dollars over the life of your trading...
