I second that, babypips' school of pipsology really helped my understanding of the core FX market.You should read and go through that before choosing a system or coming up with your own.Nothing is better than coming up with a system that works but copying can generally aid your learning curve and exposure.

An addendum to this: The upside of robots/strategies is they take the emotion out of it, they simply follow the rules they are programmed to use. I agree with what was said, though, the longer the history the better.
