And those two thoughts being traded when your data tells you that a pull back to the mean is in the cards. Only when there is an edge. Not just when a particular pair gets too far away from their mean.

"I track all of my trading data/stats in excel. Even my best week after week runs have inconsistent day to day returns. I think a better look at any strategy is to look at your pip totals based on a rolling return. I use 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 rolling pip returns. I believe that this assessment of your trading will let you know if you are on the right track. Do not use an arbitrary daily or even weekly goal because it will change but the change might be statistically predictable."and that is 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 day rolling returns.

I am an excel spreadsheet trader exclusively. I think the only time I ever look at a chart is either my equity curve or with my stock holdings. I use momentum based strategy for stocks and a mean revision strategy for forex.

(Another post I have posted that might be of interest)http://www.futuresmag.com/2015/03/16...-curve-tradingI am going to cover in this journal entry the reasons I believe it is important to have strict rules for trading and also I'm going to cover trading your equity curve. The link is to a Futures Magazine article about trading your equity curve if you are unfamiliar with it.I believe one of the big improvements to my trading was when I put together a list of rules that were so strict that even if I gave the rules to someone and we went our separate ways for a year, when we got back toget...

(Here is a post I posted on another site that might be of interest to those here. This helps me stick to my Quant Method that might have poor performance in the short term)I wanted to share real quick my favorite chart that helps me sleep at night. It has to do with losses. Losses over a day/week/month are to be expected. Everyone has losses but not all losing streaks are created equal. Too many traders adjust their techniques/system/method because of losing streaks. You need to know when your losing streak should be expected and part of the process and which losing streaks are telling you th...

I've looked around to see if this has been asked before and could not find a discussion. With some of the systems that have a great track record but are not showing their open trades, is it possible with this site to show a great track record but they are only selling the profitable trades and holding onto the trades that are negative and hiding it by blocking anyone from seeing the open trades? There are a few very good % gain systems that do not have their open trades block from view and they are showing many many open trades that have huge losses. Thanks in advance for responses
