"Das Safe" is an armed guarded "fortress" in downtown Vienna. They don't need ID to keep "staff" in their safes (contrary to banks). (http://www.dassafe.com/e_index.html)
"1000 tons of reinforced concrete surround the vault which is protected by a perfect electronic system. In addition the building is guarded day and night."
I think physical gold should be a "little bit" safer with them as under the pillow. It is just my opinion...

The point is who holds the key. Maybe it is safe for outsiders with tons of concrete, but what about insiders. Just a question. Handling someone to save your stuff is almost like holding bullion gold.
I would rather store it on my safe, a place when only some family members know of, rather than handling to someone. IMO

Don't underestimate the power of the American government, they confiscated all the gold around 80 years ago and they certainly can and will do it again. And now with the introduction of FATCA and soon GATGA, you have nowhere to hide

The point is who holds the key. Maybe it is safe for outsiders with tons of concrete, but what about insiders. Just a question. Handling someone to save your stuff is almost like holding bullion gold.
I would rather store it on my safe, a place when only some family members know of, rather than handling to someone. IMO
The contents are insurable at "Das Safe" in case something like that would happen.
Having physical gold in a commercial safe which is built in on a private property sounds scary to me, especially if I were away from home for weeks... But even if I were at home all the time... How many movies have been made about burglars physically threatening owner/wife/children to open the safe at home...? And burglars also watch movies. You may ask how burglars would know that you have an expensive and "very safe" safe on your property...? Well, unless you are a professional safe installer, they do have the sources to get such info...
Sure, there is no 100% safe place on Earth, but there are levels of safety.

Physical gold could be great long term investment.
But you can't use it to pay your bills. You won't go to DASAFE tell guys hey cut me 10 grams of my gold I am going to sell it and pay mortgage.
Except gold or silver coins during the war:) And there will be war soon or later as always.
Anyway for people who does trade for living (and for paying bills) physical gold in not an option.
There are forex systems that can give you 5-10% monthly and with corresponding deposit that could be the way to make enough profit for living.
But you can't use it to pay your bills. You won't go to DASAFE tell guys hey cut me 10 grams of my gold I am going to sell it and pay mortgage.
Except gold or silver coins during the war:) And there will be war soon or later as always.
Anyway for people who does trade for living (and for paying bills) physical gold in not an option.

true, there are alot of products now you get gold in mini sizes for easier payments. even a big bar worth can allow you to go buy war food for like a year or two(beans,tuna etc)
It is to be part of the portfolio not all of it

As a second thought, one may want to place the gold bars in a safe in a less war-risk country or continent. One which has not seen war in the past century and is unlikely to get involved in a military conflict in the near future... Besides, politically and economically stable.

In this thread you are looking for volunteers to do the "dirty work" and test them first manually on demo accounts... Do those people know that you are distributing their strategies to total strangers...??
