Money management and risk management are 2 major components for success in forex. You cannot survive in the market if you are unable to manage your capital and risk. The 2% rule is very valid and should be followed by all in order to keep your drawdown in limit.

It's nice to have the option to use high leverage but I always stick with around 1:100 - I think a lot of traders misuse it and it raises their risk by quite a lot.

A major aspect of money management is to take control over your emotions, because through money management you are taught not to overspend your money out of rage and greed. Many people do not understand leverage, and use unnecessary ratios because they are driven by greed to earn more profits.
Remember that in order to earn profits with leverage, you must also have to learn proper risk management and analysis skills. Leverage is a double sided sword, so always be careful when using it.

Leverage is so misunderstood. Even by regulators. Leverage is a good and safe thing to have if you understand it and can use it properly
