Indian shares opened lower on Tuesday in cautious trade as investors looked ahead to some key U.S. tech earnings, the U.S. Q2 GDP data and the Fed's interest-rate decision.

Asian stock markets are trading mostly higher on Tuesday, following the mostly positive cues from Wall Street overnight, as investors largely stayed cautious ahead of some key earnings updates, US GDP data and the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy announcement on Wednesday. News of new Covid-19 cases in China dropping to the lowest level in more than a week aided market sentiment.

Indian shares are seen opening flat to slightly lower on Tuesday as investors react to a mixed set of earnings results from the likes of Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra and Axis Bank.

The Thai stock market has finished higher in four straight sessions, collecting more than 25 points or 1.7 percent along the way. The Stock Exchange of Thailand now rests just above the 1,560-point plateau and it's tipped to open in the green again on Tuesday.

The Japanese stock market is modestly lower on Tuesday, extending the losses in the previous session, with the Nikkei 225 staying above the 27,600 level, following the mixed cues from Wall Street overnight, with traders booking profits after the recent winning streak ahead to the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy decision on Wednesday. Japan also confirmed its first monkeypox case.

The Indonesia stock market has finished lower in two of three trading days since the end of the three-day winning streak in which it had surged almost 225 points or 3.3 percent. The Jakarta Composite Index now sits just beneath the 6,860-point plateau although it's expected to open higher again on Tuesday.
