Speaking of commission.The other thing with the trades staying open for extended periods is that the 'cost' of the trade means that it will most likely never break even.Over three accounts whilst they have shown overall profits the open trade value on each account is equal to or more than the closed trade profit, so, I have two accounts that are essentially about break even atm and one account, the longest running, that the open trade (loss) is 1.5 times the closed trade (profit). I was nearly excited/relieved last night when I saw my open trade DD reducing.Nearly got to the point where I could close all open trades and basically be at breakeven/small loss for the 3 months of trading.Should have done it as of course those who hesitate lose - Open Trade DD is again way in excess of 3 month profit - DOH!

Phew....Interesting stuff overnight - now have 43 trades open - its really piling in to try and recover the losing trades.I can't imagine this ever being "flat" - its not happened in 3 months so not sure why other people's account go 'flat'??Open Trade DD still -20%I think the lowest Open Trade DD I can remember seeing was about -5% and that was maybe a week or two after it started.I still have one October trade open.

I was thinking the same - thought I'd hold back to see if anyone woudl comment given the last couple of days events.I was wondering if everyone had gone quiet due to heart attacks after the overnight drawdowns! In my case -11% overnight to a total of -25%Now clawing its way back to -20% at the moment.

Good explanation FugheI think the only thing that isn't covered though when we talk about risk is that no matter what you set 'risk' at it is largely ignored isn't it?ie; if the s/l is a mandatory 600 pips and lets assume that with a trade size of 0.01 you achieve this 1% the whole process goes out the window when it starts taking other trade sizes, as in, 0.02 is 2% and 0.1 is 10% and in the case of one of my largest trades of 0.27 that is 27%. Now, the trade size has got that big because its in a losing siutation and just keeps adding to it, and adding, and adding......, so w...

Hi PaulJust wondering what you mean by this?My experience is that heavy DD, ie; keep doubling in in the hope it'll come good doesn't net huge returns as when it does eventually decide to close out half the trades are closed at a loss and the other half at profit?Whilst there is the odd reasonable profit it is usually eaten up by the opposing losses?Essentially, a winning trade (under normal circumstances) with a risk setting of 1% is profit of 0.03%, ie; $3 in every $100 (theoretically) risked.

No manual closing - to test an EA you need to let it work or the developer can say "but you've been interfering with it - that's why its not profitable"These are trades that are still open - hence the big push by everyone to get "Open Trades" disclosed.

The only setting is set to 1, ie; 1%The biggest losses are sell trades on AUDNZD that date back to Mid October and of course it has been in a big uptrend during this time. instead of 0.01 lots they range from 0.04 to 0.26 lots as it keeps adding bigger lots as its in a losing position.USDCAD is doing the same but with buy orders and of course it has been trending down since late Nov.

Well, I'd say aside from teh obvious, that its profitable, there would be honesty, integrity, open discussion, full disclosure of statistics, explination of methedology so that if its not performing as claimed you have an understanding as to why / or have a heads up something is wrong.......that's just a couple of things off the top of my head.At this stage we're not quite there. Missed the point completely there :) Again - if EA is already calculating based on multiple time frames why does it have to be on a specific chart window? And again, multiple charts = slower computer performance = risk of different results

The thing I don't understand is that if it looks at multiple time frames as has been stated, then it must be in the coding to use only particular time frame EA's MACD etc etc, sooooo, it shouldn't matter what timeframe it is attached to?????????I to prefer to look at different time frames through the day - opening too many charts of different currencies just slows the PC down and then of course you build in order delay which can scew the results.

Fapt was one of the biggest cons around, no sorry, Fapt Evolution was......those guys are outright crooks.I'd suspect the strategies, in fact the people, probably don't exist?? About as factual as the sort of info(mercials) we get blasted with on TodayTonight or similar :)Sadly there doesn't seem to be any genuine traders out there sharing their ideas. Thanks Dustin for joining myfxbook & for commenting on this thread.I feel though a certain point has been missed.Whilst one can "simply look at the equity line below the balance line" this is merely a reflection of closed trades and not the topic at hand.The fact that the "Open Trades" are hidden (I believe) is what everyone is talking about in terms of drawdown. For example, my testing shows a consistent 34 OPEN TRADES of which a majority are losers of up to 3.8% (individually @ current value) when the risk is set to 1%.Even if each trade could ONLY lose 1% that me...

Yes, my account was the same - they've stopped access now that its a pay for item (my email password is being refused) - or maybe that's because I kept asking too many questions :)About once per week I would be carrying up to 16% at currency value or 33% at stop loss value.At this point whilst it produced a nice equity curve the reality was the value of closed trades hasn't been greater than the amount at risk - and that's after about 2-3 months from memory - I started it from the very early days.
