When an event is labeled as 'High Impact' on an economic calendar, it signifies that the event is likely to have a significant influence on financial markets. These events often involve major economic indicators or news releases, and they can lead to increased market volatility and price movements.

please tell me, I find it very difficult on how to relate the news (economic calendar) to chart. when there is a high impact news on the USD, does it mean that the USD will go downwards or upward?
example of GBPUSD, when I buy, I buy GBP and when I sell, I sell the USD.

Whether USD will go up or down depends on how the data compares to the EXPECTED results (not necessarily the previous month result). If the data is better than expectation then USD will rise, if it is worse then it will fall

Anything red on the calendar is a warning to get out of any trade before the time

High-impact events on the calendar mean big market moves and trading chances. Check them out here; you can filter by impact and choose specific countries.

I am trying to get my head around this also my understanding so far is... The value of a currency is based on a countries economic strength much like the share price of a company. Good news for the countries economy (or higher than expected) will cause the currency value to increase and the paired currency to fall in relation i.e. On the release of higher than expected jobs data created in America, USD will increase in value against its pairs and vice versa in times of economic uncertainty, recession, wars, banks and buyers flock to gold as a hedge and in turn gold will increase in price XAUUSD in line with demand.

High-impact events on the calendar can definitely be confusing, especially if you're new to forex trading. These are basically economic announcements or data releases that have a significant potential to move the market. Traders themselves adjust their positions, manage risk, or even stay on the sidelines during these events.

News trader of 12 years here. It's possible to make this work in your favour but there are a lot of technical barriers to news trading as a retail investor;
- Speed of your live news feed vs broker news feed - if yours is slower you'll always miss out on the spike
- Understanding which pairs are affected in which way
- Understanding the nature of the pace of a spike and retrace (using historical data paired with knowledge of what the expected vs actual data was)
- being able to fire an order with sufficiently low latency to a broker AND get it filled without slippage
these are a bare few examples of what you need to handle.....IF you get these down and many other variables....you then need to actually get your profits from the broker 😄 not always as easy as you think

Good luck!
