The broker is a risk himself. Hwe might even not execute the order at all. I experienced this last week once and got a 'timeout' in the expert log. Bad for strategies with more than one open position. I was lucky to miss the profit and not having loss ;(

Ken, I've checked the log and my TP was 1.37571 while my MT4 has hit a low=1.37558, which means 1.3 pips difference and in my fix account the spread is fixed at 1.8 pips. So this may explain the broker issue. But let's come back to our sPhantom: why in that moment it closed the trade in its account and not in our MT4?

sPhantom is a trade copier, not a trade controller. They can modify a TP or a SL, but once sent to your system, there really is nothing more they can do for you from a management perspective. Remember, they are trading and their TP is out there, in advance, just like yours. Any number of things could have happened that let their trade close while yours didn't. Most likely, they had a better spread. You are trading a fixed spread at 1.8 pip. The EURUSD is very liquid and I occasionally get spreads of 1 pip. It could be the distance to your brokers server. There can be issues even when your price is touched. Data travels at the speed of light but inter continent vs. half way around the world can matter. Where was your order in the bid stack? There may have not been enough lots at that price to fill everyone. The only time you can really cry foul is if price moves at least one tick beyond your asking close price.

If you are trading with a real broker (STP or an ECN vs. a bucket shop), then there is no benefit to the broker not completing the trade. Bucket shops take the other side of the trade. ECN's and STP's get paid from the spread when a trade happens. I really think Occams razer applies here.

Let me give you another example. I trade another system that I trade in pairs. So acct 1 and acct 2 both trade the same system, I start them at the same time, both accounts are with the same broker, they both start fresh on Sunday and close all positions on Friday, and they both trade the same system, yet there can be substantive differences in performance over any given week. Acct 1 can miss a trade by 1 tick and it can make all the difference in the world. It just happens. HFT's can front run you, a split second freeze on your PC or VPS at precisely the wrong time.

Hi

Sorry for delay. To get the answers sooner you can contact our support service.

1 - The max number of open positions is 2. This EA uses emergency stop loss. It's 200 pips from the first position. The second position stop loss is not 200 pips. Let say the EA open a buy position with 10 pips TP and 200 pips SL and the market goes against the trade in about 100 pips and the EA opens another trade with the same stop loss price as the first position and close both positions in profit or SL point. Please notice that the second position distance is not fixed. It depends on the market conditions. Also the EA may close both positions before SL point.

When the market moves fast in the opposite direction right after opening the position the EA wait for 1 hour at least and then consider the second trade.

2 - We try our best to improve the strategy as the market behavior changes.

3 - You are right. This may happens sometimes because difference between brokers tick data. In these situations the EA closes the clients trades as soon as our position be closed.

Regards

Hi sPhantom,

Can I ask, what will happen the first time the EA hit SL? If 10 pips TP equal to 2.5% gain, does it means the EA will lose 50% the first time it hit 200 pips SL?

Dear @minyu2

Yes. We are using high risk setting.

Dear Traders

I appreciate all your comments.

This week there was a situation in which our trade touched the TP and closed while some of our clients trade was still open because their brokers refused to close the trades.

Technically sPhantom should close their trades itself but it couldn't.

Last 2 days we was working hard to find out the reason. We have made a temporarily change on our server which should have fixed the problem so that this situation should not happen again.

We are creating an update which will permanently fix this issue.

We appreciate your patient.

Currently there is no need to change any setting from clients side.

Best Regards

Dear @Michigander

I mean there is a system on sPhantom which when the our main account trade are closed it automatically closes the clients trades too even if they have not touched the TP.

But as I said before it didn't worked on this week situation.

We have fixed it it now. We also will publish an update to avoid such situation in the future.

I appreciate you support.

Thanks for having shed some light on this problem and thanks for your efforts to fix it. As we've experienced on our wallet this is a very important feature that all of us would like to keep it working.

Hi all,

I just want to share my experience with sPhantom and hope it helps someone out there. I watched my friend's demo for around 2 months and and studied the EA's behaviour over the same period and found it quite impressive.
I finally decided to buy my own copy and put it on a live account with Alpari UK, my first trade was on 19th August. The trade went the opposite direction for a while and on 20th of August following FOMC session the trade started to reverse in our favour. The master trade closed and issued a close instruction to my MT4 terminal, and to my horror, my account was still in huge drawdown, but the price was spiking up and down and the trade closed with a 30% account loss. I was shocked as I sat there and watched the price continue down to reach my TP beyond.

I emailed sPhantom and showed my terminal and was told that because of the tick data difference between brokers this sometimes happened. I asked them which broker to use and they recommended IBFX. Due to logistical differences I decided not to go with IBFX and instead went with FinFX on an ECN account because that was what my friend was using successfully for his sPhantom test account.

I pay 10% commission on each trade but I get very good execution and very good spreads as well. I have now been running sPhantom since late September without any problems.

My recommendation is that you find a good ECN broker for your sPhantom EA and I don't really support the idea of the Master closing the slave because of the difference of tick data across difference brokers.

Following the sound advice of @Michigander, I have also started to withdraw profits. I have recovered the losses from that first trade and the price of the EA and some profit over that. I am hoping to recover my capital outlay and if I manage to do that I will be a very happy client.

Anyway just thought I'd share my experience in hope someone finds it useful.

Happy profits to all and a great weekend. Long live sPhantom.

The point is teh sPhantom is a signal provider, copy trade or something. We will success if our broker execute the signals as fast as 0 ms (no delay).

Developer suggest ibfx, because the latency times is under 300 ms, it's still the best i think. but, nowadays, many broker try to offer better latency times by offering ECN account or NDD account, i think is still above 300ms but under 500ms (my little experiment using swvps).

So, make sure you test your existing latency times first before decided to use that broker.

Still waiting sPhantom pass the first year (end-of May 2014). :-)

I have already sent 2 support requests for this EA and no reply. I have only just bought it and it is not working. Here is what is happening:

I get a message on screen saying 'Wrong Account Number'.. Yes, I have checked the account number and it is correct.
I have set it up again about 3 or 4 times now on the member site, but it still says it is the wrong account.
I have removed the ea from the chart and then added it again. No good.
I have removed the ea, removed the chart, restarted mt4, then added the chart and added the ea. No good.

One very strange observation that has happened while trying to get it working was that the message changed to 'account validated' or something like that. This lasted about 30 minutes or more, until I needed to restart mt4 for another reason. When the mt4 started again, the message changed back to 'Wrong Account Number'.

I understand, that the ea probably would be or should switched off for this dead time of year, but I want to make sure it will work when trading starts again.

Update:

It has now been fixed.. Here is how, just in case someone else runs into this....
I am not sure the manual says this, but it seems you need to have the chart window maximised for the verification to work, or maybe it just affects the text that is displayed.. I am not sure, but maximising it seemed to fix it. You then seem to be able to change the window size after it has been verified. Hope that helps someone.

@BenM : you always have to maximize the window, i had the same problem and support answered friendly.
sphantom should fix it (or is this related to MT4 ?)
and/or put the 'always maximize this window' into the chart window.

@sPhantom Your emails arrived after I had posted the post and before I posted the second post, which is why I posted about the maximised window. This solution was recommended in your email and it worked, so I posted it here so it may help someone else without the need to contact support. It is a simple solution, but drove me crazy trying to fix something that was such a simple thing to check and change. Most, if not all new mt4 installations default to a set of 4 tiled windows, so there is a fair chance that a new install will always have this problem unless the user changes the default layout.

Is it a problem with the mt4 platform or the ea?

Yes, you did answer within 24hrs as you have mentioned in your post. In fact your replies and positive feedback and attitude on here is one of the reasons I grabbed this EA.

I look forward to your future great trading results.

@husar2003 I could not see an 'always maximize this window' setting or whatever it may be, but it is ok, as I have no problem making sure this window is always maximised now that I know.

Thanks

Hello,all guys,
After I study the trade records for sPhantom && fx_papa again and again
(URL: https://www.forexpeacearmy.com/metatrader_expert_advisor/fx_papa/real)
,I am hundred percent sure that sPhantom is a reborn for fx_papa.
    Why? Let me prove it.
1.For fx_para,there are some records with 2 positions or 3 positions to win EURUSD/GBPUSD,for example ,the following two trade record closed at the same time for fx_para

23814035 2012.04.18 04:00 buy 0.57 eurusdm 1.31235 0.00000 0.00000 2012.04.18 13:56 1.30975 0.00 0.00 0.00 -14.82 -26
23819475 2012.04.18 12:50 buy 0.57 eurusdm 1.30633 0.00000 0.00000 2012.04.18 13:56 1.30975 0.00 0.00 0.00 19.50 34

sPhantom win some trades with 2 position on EURUSD

 2. sPhantom and fx_para have big stoploss when 2 trades failed.

3.They have the same broker (IBFX Australia Pty Ltd) for test

4.Firstly I do not understand why the Avg. Trade time Length for 10 pips is so long, but when you compare the Analytics

https://www.forexpeacearmy.com/metatrader_expert_advisor/s_phantom/real/analytics
Average trade length: 11 hours 50 minutes
Average trades opened daily/weekly/monthly: 1/4/14 ( EURUSD,not open trade for Friday)
https://www.forexpeacearmy.com/metatrader_expert_advisor/fx_papa/real/analytics
Average trade length: 8 hours 5 minutes
Average trades opened daily/weekly/monthly: 2/5/22 (GBPUSD and EURUSD)

The are very similar. Why? I find sometimes the first position is not a perfect position when the trade following the trend, they open at a high position when long,a low position when short,so it took much time to save the first position with the second trade.

What it the problem or the risk for sPhantom && fx_papa?
For fx_para,

1. He stopped trading after a 40-50% Drawdown from 3 trades
2. he has made his live myfxbook system private
3. his EA failed to trade within its set sl llimit

For sPhantom,
A live analyst will not open trades before the big news, so maybe the trend will not reverse with the news.I am afraid when
the analyst make a wrong decision.

If you decide to use sPhantom ,how to reduce the risk? You need to make a balance with the profit and the risk carefully,
reduce the SL or take small lots.Or when trend reverse, you can close the trades manually.

What about the vendor for sPhantom? I want to say,You are a clever guy,but not honest. If the customer accounts end like the fx_para again, how you feel? I understand it is not a easy job to build a EA,but you need to tell the customers about the risk for sPhantom or fx_para.

Thanks
Jiang

@jiang May be may not be.

Time will show results. And as far i can see they are good.
If there is a big loss some day with this ea or others : it depends on your entry point.
It can catch anybody at any time with or without ea.
If having profit before loss may be acceptable, if not having profit before it may blow your account.

Therefore : choose risk level carefully. Make sure you can survive 800 - 1000 PIPS down or up (means couple of big losses IF wrong direction, but this ea seems to have a good entry).
This is the rule for ALL ea and manual trading and some vendors honestly describe this in their manual: big account , small positions if you want safely survive with low profit. Low account big risk : big profit and fast blowing up. This would be greed and this is not trading but gambling.

Right now sphantom BUYS :shocking: All my other ea do SELLs on same level. This might be related to different models / timeframes. I guess most ea think ofvery short time profits even when running on H1. sphantom could have a midterm component for that a draw down ist o.k.

@husar2003
I was also shocked to see such a BUY position in a clear down trend after news about tapering. This trend is largely expected, why to place a BUY?? This position entered in a slight move up which then quickly turned bearish again. Now it's heading to the TP (let's hope) but I don't understand if the entry points are just inaccurate or the whole strategy is considering a mid term which now it is not clear to me..
The risults till now are very good.. but to see how it fails frequently to open the positions gives me some concerns.

I see you use other EAs, can you share which ones are producing good results in your personal experience?
