How to select the Best Currency Pair for Investment?
in
Neue Trader
Nov 04, 2018 at 07:59
Currencies are not meant for long term investment unless you mean position trading which takes a long term view of a currency pair to trade. The best advice I can give is look for a currency pair that has gone from a high or a low for 1000 pips. Central (sovereign?) banks don't like that much continued movement in their currency in any one direction for economic reasons so they may signal the market movers by interest rates or a strong advisory statement to the world that they may step in to change the direction. The strong currency of the pair is the one to look for of course. You may se...
I Really Need a Mentor That is Making Money

Anyone who is good at mentoring and training a trader is going to want a legitimate payment for their services. You can't expect much for free beyond what some email gurus want to put out on the internet as advertisements for their paid service. Much of that free email advice is not worth much. I tried to tough it out for years by myself because I thought I was too intelligent to need mentoring. I finally surrendered my ego and became successful by going through a mentoring program that I attend every morning. I found myself making thousands of pips per month and the cost is worth every pe...

My chart shows the next up move should go at least to the .618 fib at about 113.72, but it will probably have a problem when it gets to 113.50 and rebound. So I'll probably move my stops tight around there and take the lower profit if necessary rather than risk some pips for 22 additional. If it blows thru 113.50 great, but may look for another retracement there.

managed to close at top of move for 98 pips and had several other trades in profit. 69, 51, 49, 43 51. Now I'm loving the retracement and have put in 3 additional long trade with one in profit of 10 pips already and back up we go, eh?

ari, the trend was 1700 pips. The dollar Dax has been positive lately despite the threats of Rocket Man, and other assorted BS on the fundamental side. Yellen may want to degrade the dollar in her speech today, just to spite Trump, but signs that the dollar bulls are in control for now are in the charts. If you are long Euro/USD, I'd look for a pullback and unload. U.S. economy is going up in my opinion and that is supported in the charts.

Dollar Dax remains positive. May be the start of the break we dollar bulls have been waiting for on all dollar pairs. UJ just hit a barrier and may pull back. But will take long trade on any significant dip and ride my other longs if no dip.

Nothing of significance on any of the dollar pairs will happen until FOMC tomorrow.

I'm being extra careful on this pair. The Dollar Dax has been positive all day and the currency dipped and then returned to its previous levels. I believe there is a lot of bullish pressure out there, just waiting for the Dollar to stumble if either Trump's speech to the UN is not considered positive or if the FOMC on Wednesday doesn't strongly affirm a rate increase soon.

I got the trade down I wanted and back in long. According to my charts it just took out another fib line and should be good up to the next one around 111.96. Probably has used up its daily ATR about now so may just hang around this level until the new trading day.Stay safe and trade well.

Very suspicious when UJ did not react strongly to the announcements today and came back to its previous level. I had expected it to go above 111 before a major retracement, but I'm gonna put a toe in the water short this afternoon in my hedge account. I don't think it will move long much before closing and tomorrow is Friday where a lot of big traders get flat. Just my two cents.
USA Brokers?

If you are in the US you almost have to trade with a U>S. broker because of government regulations. This is not necessarily a bad thing. Some regulations are there to protect you, even if they seem burdensome. Trying to get around the rules as a US citizen is difficult and often winds up badly if the broker picked overseas isn't stable.I have been trading with Oanda for a long time. They are stable and competitive for all trading account sizes. They have some new plans for lower spreads for traders with relatively high accounts. The best advice i can give to a newcomer to FX trading is ...
Whats the Best Education Around??

Aug 10, 2016 at 06:50
I started trading without any education beyond a demo account for three months and a software package I bought that was supposed to give me entries and exits. The outfit that sold that package went out of business shortly thereafter. Does any of this sound familiar?I also tried varying my trading strategy, or more correctly trading strategies, including the amounts at risk in any one trade, because nothing worked consistently. Does any of this sound familiar? I watched helplessly as a huge spike crashed down through my stop loss positions and found that "Surprise, our contract says that w...

The NFP announcement affected pairs with the dollar in them. Some pairs without a dollar, such as the EUR/GBP, don't move as much with a dollar announcement for obvious reasons.

I had a similar suggestion. It does show cumulative pips--but from the beginning of your account to current. I'd like to see cumulative pips by sub-account or by currency pair. Forex Factory has this.
Why do news events disappear as they occur? Why not keep them available?

I can't be at my computer 24/7. So I miss certain news events that happen when I am away. If they are available on this site, I can't find them. It would be helpful to me to find out what happened with China news or European events for at least a day as they affect the trading in my time zone.Forex Factory keeps them available.

The current format shows each account in cumulative numbers in a graph and in the systems block by up to 10 different columns--but all these are cumulative from the inception of the account to date. While these are good numbers to have to show progress (or not), it's sorta like showing the cumulative progress of the human race from Adam to Albert Einstein and lunar exploration. Interesting information to be sure, but I'd like to be able to see that data separate by year as well as cumulative. Really handy at tax time to show the IRS that I am a legitimate trader doing business as a tr...
What is your daily target??

For years I wasn't using any trading philosophy but my own. I tried and bought several methodologies or trading system programs, but was using a 10 pip goal for a trade--and this led to moving my stop to protect those 10 pips too soon on many trades. Then I saw a chart that proved scalping for 10 pips was a losing proposition, even at 60% winning trades. I realized I had to change my strategy.I now have a goal of at least 50 pips per trade and have bought into a trading method that helps me discern the market moves for the day. It also provides a feed for the market movement of the dollar....
