The output of firms that are incorporated into the industrial sector of the economy is measure In Norway by industrial production. With 67% of total production coming from extraction and related services, this is the most important sector of the economy. The extraction of natural gas (which accounts for 31% of total output) and crude petroleum (which accounts for 22% of total output) are the two most important segments within the extraction and related services sector. 27% of total production accounts for manufacturing which the following industries dominating: food, beverages, and tobacco (5%), refined petroleum, chemicals, and pharmaceutical products (4%), machinery and equipment (3%), fabricated metal products (2%), ships, boats, and oil platforms (2%), computer and electrical equipment (2%), repair and installation of machinery (2%), rubber, plastics, and other rubber-based products (2%). 6% of overall production accounts for electricity, gas, and steam, while mining and quarrying account for 1%.
