I do not wish to discuss this very much misunderstood activity of trading in social settings or with new friends I don’t know well just yet. I am looking for some kind of friendly answer that is specific and uninteresting enough not to arise any more questions. Saying i work from home doesnt solve the issue, because it is immediately followed by “what do you do” question. I don’t want to lie completely, just want to avoid the trading part. Do you have any ideas?

I just tell people I do quantitative analysis related to international finance.
If they press for more information, I simply tell them 'I don't want to talk about it.'
