How to answer what do you do for a living?

I do not wish to discuss this very much misunderstood activity of trading in social settings or with new friends I don’t know well just yet. I am looking for some kind of friendly answer that is specific and uninteresting enough not to arise any more questions. Saying i work from home doesnt solve the issue, because it is immediately followed by “what do you do” question. I don’t want to lie completely, just want to avoid the trading part. Do you have any ideas?

you can say that you are working as a Freelancer.

Freelancer means works as per project who get his project from online source.

Best answer for me: I run my business about investments. An Ultimate Business....

I just tell people I do quantitative analysis related to international finance.
If they press for more information, I simply tell them 'I don't want to talk about it.'

Just be honest, that would filter real friends from the rest.
If you need workaround just say I am doing computer business.

Give them information on the need to know business

Just be honest about it.
If you don't want to talk about it, then simply tell them you don't want to talk about it.

I throw in big words like CFDs, bullion and indices when I want to kill the topic

Simply: A Forex trader! Forex is a popular business in my area, so I have no issue!
