Private sector credit in Australia was up 0.3 percent on month in March, the Reserve Bank of Australia said on Tuesday - missing forecasts for 0.4 percent and down from 0.5 percent in February.

The total value of retail sales in Australia was down a seasonally adjusted 0.4 percent on month in March, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Tuesday - coming in at A$35.663 billion.

The pound continues to trade at elevated levels, standing on the cusp of the upcoming Bank of England (BoE) policy meeting.

The overnight trading session unfolded with a notable lack of volatility. Noteworthy shifts were observed among G10 currencies, with particular attention drawn to the Australian dollar and the yen, as the US dollar remained in a weakened position.

The Japanese yen has remained strong in overnight trading following a relatively turbulent session yesterday. The currency briefly climbed back above the 150.00 level and reached an intraday high of 150.16 against the US dollar before sharply dropping to an intraday low of 147.43.

The New Zealand dollar has been the weakest performer among the G10 currencies in the last five trading days, and it further depreciated against the US dollar yesterday.
