How early do you position yourself before a scheduled news announcement, if at all?

If it is important like, NFP, I will close my positions but if it is a lower impact event, I will leave my trades open

I employ automated bots that strategically set limit orders during the final moments of the second preceding a news release. News trading heavily relies on achieving precise execution. If you were to place a limit order 10 seconds prior to the release, you might secure a favorable position in the execution queue at your specified price. However, during those 10 seconds, there is a heightened risk of having your order triggered erroneously.

Conversely, when you position your order within the last second, it's probable that you'll find yourself closer to the back of the queue, which can result in less optimal execution.
