I think that few people trade longs and shorts equally on average as most people have a bias to be able to spot opportunity on one more than the other. And that's fine to be honest.
If you can't spot the liquidity then you are the liquidity.

Investors can make gains in a bear market by short selling. This technique involves selling borrowed shares and buying them back at lower prices. A short seller must borrow the shares from a broker before a short sell order is placed.
Traders can make gains in a bear market by short selling. The other way is to take profit at regular intervals. This could be an opportunity to take in profits.

Hi All,
I read last week that on average you trade up and down, 50/50.
I'm wondering how you set that up. I have tried putting the S/L and the T/P in reverse after the market trended down, but that did not work. It was refused as wrong. Thinking back it may of been wrong because the S/L and T/P were simply not far enough away from the current price?? Thanks for your comments. Bruce
That’ the beauty of Forex market! When I am very sure on the down side of the market; then I would like to open any the sell trade position! But, no way to avoid the money management rule!
