Is learning forex from YouTube sufficient, or should you take a course?

Learning forex from YouTube provides free and quick access, but the material is often fragmented and unstructured. Paid courses are usually more systematic, offer mentors, and provide hands-on practice. The choice depends on your needs: learn independently to save money, or take a course for intensive guidance and more focused learning discipline. Which one should you choose?

I'd choose free corses from Youtube. It's only a theory, not matter is it free or paid. You can learn only on practice.

Open a demo account with well know brokers like Algobi or TMG and start getting knowledge on practice that's the best teacher.

Wow, that's very interesting. What did you get there? Did the account generate any profits? I'm currently using a bonus account from Headway where we can withdraw profits without making a deposit.

If you were a profitable trader, would you sell courses? Learn only from profitable traders whose verified track record you can see. Here on Myfxbook is the best place to start.

Any recommendations on who to follow? I'm new to trading and need good role models, and mentors. TIA

You can learn the basics from YouTube, no doubt. There’s plenty of good content out there, but it’s scattered and you’ll spend a lot of time piecing things together. Courses can give you structure, but most of them just repackage free stuff and throw in a price tag.

What actually makes the difference is getting your hands dirty. Spend time on the charts, trade small, and keep a journal of every decision you make. That feedback loop is what teaches you, not some video or course.

I highly recommend the course, but not just any course, rather one based on fundamental analysis and quantitative analysis. Technical analysis and psychology do not work because 99% of people study precisely that, and the crowd never makes money in the market. On top of everything else, amateur or novice traders are unable to look at themselves from a different angle and correct their mistakes. If they could, they would have done so long ago, which is why they need an outside perspective. My answer is simple: the information on YouTube is not enough...What's the point of reading books and watching videos if they don't lead to anything?

YouTube’s great for ideas but a course gives you a proper foundation. I’d say do the course first to nail the basics then hit YouTube for extra tips or new stuff.

The highly successful, ongoing profitable traders I know keep a low profile and are not on YouTube.

The struggling traders I know all have heavy social media presence including YT, and don't talk about the losses.

So be very skeptical.

YouTube’s great to get the basics, but it won’t teach you discipline or risk control — that part only comes from real trading.I learned most stuff online, but consistency came once I started managing risk properly. I trade with gerchik, and their built-in loss limit tool honestly helped more than any paid course ever did
