Back here just to tease a bit... As I said back in November, in Dec-Feb I would be careful using this EA...so far DEC confirmed it and Jan didnt start well ;)

Hello Forum, after so many requests to get a copy of my personal EA that use the same strategy principle of this one, I decided to give away an indicator that will alert you ahead of when a possible profitable trade will come.

I added a link to where to get it but , as it was in a "competitor" website, ForexFactory , I guess it was removed.

Anyway, its just an indicator with alert option.

As montioned, December and January are not good months to trade. This EA didn't had a losing month before that. Have patience, and turn off this EA for now. First week of FEB put it back on and you should be fine.

You got in when the market conditions were not ideal for this EA in my view. there were quite a few discussion back in Nov whether or not to use this EA in Dec-Jan... with mixed feeling around the guys in this forum.
Being that this is a breakout based EA, you need the conditions for a proper BO and that usually involves masses of people following a certain move. When you dont have that many ppl trading, the BO is weak and can easily revert. And its not only volume really, there are other conditions coming to play, other factors around the world that impact trading in general.
If you understand what is needed for this EA to be successful you will see that this not a bulletproof strategy ofc.
But dont take my words for it, check what is consider a Breakout in an article such as "the anatomy of trading breakout".
This is a EA after all, with the same base code running since at least March last year (we dont know for a fact when the EA started - maybe it started before with losses ;) ) but I believe the conditions did chg in Dec...
Ofc, its arguably hard to make a call to turn it off and then see it coming up again... but its a matter of understanding the conditions you will be trading on...

Why didnt the owner of this robot then tell us here in a clear message NOT to run it in december and Jan... He knows the logic... So anyone who purchased in november does not benefit from a 60 day trial because their accounts are looking like shit...

the idea I guess is that this will eventually recover... but not sure how he is communicating with active buyers, as he barely ever writes here.
So, they guys that bought it may be receiving emails , updates, etc.

The owner of the robot doesn't disconnect the EA during December and January as evidenced by the account - why would he suggest others do?
As Vladrac stated there are varying opinions on the matter. I backtested the EA and the only periods that I avoided are the week before and the week after, i.e. the two week period that a lot of people are on holidays for. Backtest data supports this decision. I also mentioned that if you look at previous histories both volume and ATR indicators do not support the commonly held belief that you should not trade in December and January. Maybe the Ea author is in my camp - i.e. those people that use historic information to make decisions rather than relying on commonly held beliefs.

Well, he did lose almost 20% (on a fixed lot size I have to say) in December and till mid Jan he is down 7%.
So, the commonly held belief so far was right at the point wasnt it?
