Food and beverage account for 28.6% of the total weight is the most important segment of the CPI basket in the Greater Buenos Aires area, followed by transport (which accounts for 10.4%), and clothing and footwear (10.4%). As of December 2016, the CPI index had a base value of 100 and covers the whole metropolitan area of Buenos Aires, including its 24 districts.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the ARS while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the ARS.
