Canada Housing Starts
A housing start is defined in Canada as the commencement of construction work on the building in which the dwelling unit will be housed. In most cases, this refers to the stage at which the concrete has been poured for the entire footing around the structure; in other cases, it refers to an equivalent stage at which a basement will not be included in the construction.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the CAD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the CAD.
