France Markit Manufacturing PMI
The Markit Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index in France monitors the manufacturing sector's performance and is calculated using data from a survey of 400 manufacturing firms. All five indicators were evaluated based on the characteristics: New Orders (30%), Production (25%), Workforce (20%), Provider Delivery Times (15%), and Inventory of Items Purchased (10%), and Stock of Items Purchased (10%), with the Delivery Times index reversed so that it moves in the same direction as the other four indexes. A value above 50 indicates that the manufacturing sector has expanded in comparison to the previous month, a rating below 50 indicates that the manufacturing sector has declined, and a value of 50 implies that nothing has changed.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the EUR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the EUR.

Eurozone Retail Sales Fall More Than Forecast
Eurozone retail sales declined more than expected in July largely reflecting a notable fall in food and auto fuel sales, official data showed Thursday. Retail sales posted a monthly fall of 0.5 percent, in contrast to the 0.6 percent increase in June, Eurostat reported. Sales were expected to fall 0.3 percent.

German Construction Sector Downturn Deepens
Germany's construction sector shrank further in August largely due to the steep fall in new orders, survey results from S&P Global showed on Thursday. The HCOB construction Purchasing Managers' Index fell to 46.0 in August from July's 29-month high of 46.3.

Eurozone Private Sector Growth At 1-Year High
The euro area private sector expanded at the fastest pace in a year in August but the overall pace was sluggish as the service sector held back growth, final survey data from S&P Global showed on Wednesday. The HCOB composite output index rose to 51.0 in August from 50.9 in July. The score was slightly below the initial estimate of 51.1.
