Kazakhstan Interest Rate Decision
Decisions on interest rates are made by Kazakhstan's central bank, the National Bank of Kazakhstan. The overnight policy rate of the National Bank of Kazakhstan is the official interest rate of the bank. Using the overnight repo rate rather than the refinancing rate as the new benchmark on September 2nd, 2015, policymakers replaced the currency peg that had been in place since August.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the KZT while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the KZT.
