The Consumer Price Index in Macau is dominated by food and non-alcoholic beverages (which account for 29% of the entire weight), followed by housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (accounting for 27% of the total weight). Additionally, transports (11%), miscellaneous goods and services (9.4%), clothing and footwear (6.5%), recreation and culture (4.8%), household appliances (3.3%), health (3%), education (2.9%), communication (2.5%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1%).
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the MOP while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the MOP.
