Norway Balance of Trade
Since 1989, the Norwegian trade balance has been in surplus. As a result of global trade tensions and sluggish external demand, Norway's trade surplus shrank by 48.3% in 2019 compared to the previous year, to NOK 148 billion. The UK, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, Iceland, Portugal, Singapore, and Ireland had the largest trade surpluses, while China, the US, Sweden, Russia, Italy, Canada, Brazil, Poland, and the Czech Republic had the largest deficits.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the NOK while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the NOK.
