Slovakia Balance of Trade
Exports have been the primary driver of Slovakia's growing economy, with exports having more than doubled in the last ten years. Vehicles, machinery, and electrical equipment, as well as base metals, chemicals, and minerals, account for the vast majority of Slovakia's exports. The Euro Area's members are the primary export partners, with Germany, the Czech Republic, and Poland being the most important. Machines and transport equipment, intermediate manufactured products, fuels, and chemicals account for the majority of Slovakia's imports. Germany, the Czech Republic, China, and Russia are the major import partners. Slovakia experienced great surpluses in 2015 with Germany, the United Kingdom, Poland, and Austria. The major trade deficits were with China, South Korea, Russia, and Japan.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the EUR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the EUR.
