Among other categories are: miscellaneous goods and services such as personal care, insurance and finance (14.7%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.4%), household contents, equipment and maintenance (4.8%), recreation and culture (4.1%), clothing and footwear (4.1%). The remaining 10% accounts for restaurants and hotels, education, communication, and health. In January of 2013, the basket of CPI items was updated.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the ZAR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the ZAR.
