The output of firms that are incorporated into the industrial sector of the economy defines the industrial production in Turkey. 84% of total production accounting for manufacturing, is the most important industry in the country. Food products (16% of total production), basic metals (11%), motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers (9%), textile (8%), other non-metallic mineral products (6%), rubber and plastic products (5%), chemicals and chemical products (5%), electrical equipment (5%), wearing apparel (5%), and fabricated metal products (5%) are the most important segments within Manufacturing.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the TRY while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the TRY.

Turkish Central Bank Cuts Key Rates Sharply For Second Time
Turkey's central bank slashed its key interest rates for the second straight meeting on Thursday citing slowdown in the underlying trend of inflation. The Monetary Policy Committee of the Republic of Turkey decided to reduce the policy rate to 40.5 percent from 43.0 percent. Previously, the bank had reduced the rate by 300 basis points in July.

Turkey Unexpectedly Lifts Rate By 350 Bps
The Turkish central bank raised its key interest rate in a surprise move on Thursday, reversing the sharp easing cycle that began last December, and also expressed preparedness to keep the policy tight. The Monetary Policy Committee, headed by Yasar Fatih Karahan, decided to reduce the policy rate to 42.5 percent from 45.0 percent, as widely expected. The bank had reduced the rate by 250 basis points each in December and January.
