United Kingdom Mortgage Approvals
In the UK, mortgage approvals for home purchases relate to the creditors' firm offers to extend credit to their customers against the purchase of certain residences secured by the loan. It applies to approvals that are fully secured on residential property by a first mortgage. Existing borrowers who want to transfer their existing mortgage to another property, lending to first-time buyers, and lending for buy-to-let purposes.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the GBP while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the GBP.

UK Budget Shortfall Overshoots Estimate
UK government borrowing increased more than expected and also exceeded the official estimate in August, adding pressure on Chancellor Rachel Reeves ahead of the November budget. Public sector net borrowing increased GBP 3.5 billion from the last year to GBP 18.0 billion in August, the Office for National Statistics said Friday.
