United States 20-Year Bond Auction
The 20 Year Bond auction displays the government's 20 Year Bond. Treasury Bonds issued by the United States have maturities ranging from 10 to 30 years. Governments issue treasuries to borrow money to pay the difference between what they get in taxes and what they spend on debt refinancing and/or capital raising. The rate on a Treasury Bond indicates the rate of return an investor will get if he or she holds the bond for the term of the bond.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the USD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the USD.

U.S. Construction Spending Unexpectedly Edges Lower In July
A report released by the Commerce Department on Tuesday showed construction spending in the U.S. unexpectedly edged slightly lower in the month of July. The Commerce Department said construction spending slipped by 0.1 percent to an annual rate of $2.139 trillion in July after falling by 0.4 to a revised rate of $2.141 trillion in June.

The University of Michigan released a report on Friday showing consumer sentiment in the U.S. deteriorated by slightly more than previously estimated in the month of August. The report said the consumer sentiment index for August was downwardly revised to 58.2 from the preliminary reading of 58.6.
