United States FOMC Economic Projections
The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve (Board) and the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) have equal authority to set interest rates in the United States. After receiving recommendations from one or more of the regional Federal Reserve Banks, the Board makes a decision on discount rate modifications. The FOMC makes decisions on open market activities, such as central bank money levels and the federal funds market rate.

U.S. Private Sector Job Growth Slows More Than Expected In August
A report released by payroll processor ADP on Thursday showed private sector employment in the U.S. increased by less than expected in the month of August. ADP said private sector employment rose by 54,000 jobs in August after jumping by an upwardly revised 106,000 jobs in July. Economists had expected private sector employment to rise by 65,000 jobs.
