(RTTNews) - U.S. consumer confidence index for September and new home sales for August are due at 10 am ET Tuesday. Ahead of these data, the greenback traded mixed against its major counterparts. While it eased against the euro, it held steady against the rest of major rivals.
The greenback was worth 148.99 against the yen, 1.0588 against the euro, 1.2181 against the pound and 0.9134 against the franc as of 9:55 am ET.

The Swiss franc fell against its major counterparts in the New York session on Wednesday.
The franc edged down to 1.1182 against the pound and 0.8436 against the greenback, from an early high of 1.1117 and a 5-day high of 0.8324, respectively.
