incorrect pwd issue might appear because of firewall related issues or incorrectly unpacked .dll . Sometimes this might happen, especially on VPS
After starting up MT4 check up Terminal -> Experts for any unusual messages, if you'll see nothing than update was successful and everything would be ok.
If there would be any errors contact us in live chat on Monday and we will set you up
Hi Ivan,
My EA won't authenticate for some reason...says Invalid Email/password...any advice? I am on a VPS as well.

I have succesfully (??) and easely updated 4 MT4s on v1.89 and they all seem to be running fine with smileys etc.
However, I have noticed that 3 accounts show "Authenticated – activated", the "activated" part is a new addition, while the 4th account (a live one) only shows "authenticated". The "activated" part is missing.
The only difference between the 4th account and all others is that it does not yet have any open trades in (is a new account)
Can you confirm is all ok or if there is anything I should do.

Oh, you might be needed to change .dll file inside MT4 on to updated one, there was a guide on how to do that one or two pages ago, in case you'll have difficulties with this - contact me in live chat and I will help you

Yes, sometimes second part might disappear when there are no opened trades, but that shouldn't affect performance in any way

I'm not completely sure about your question-observation. could you please specify what kind of trades you see on your MT4 account? Is it 0.01+ or 0.1 + ?

I opened a new demo account from fxdd (forex not forex mini) allow 0.01 lot. so far 8 trades today all 0.15 lot. I don't know why.

I believe FXDD determine margin based on total open position in USD after convert from base currency, eg euro, then divided by leverage. For $5000 account, 20k position can withhold 90 perc dd without trigger margin call. I would like to see a maxopenposition besides maxed.
I also notice new version does NOT open micro lot from FXDD demo account anymore. Please advise.

Ivan, thank you for replying. I do however think your did not understand the question as the advice given is incorrect.
The "activated" must be showing on the charts or the EA will not enter any new trades!
I have now resolved the issue with an email to support (thanks). If, however, anyone else is showing "authenticated" but NOT "activated", be aware the EA will not enter any new trades.
If anyone is interested I can post here the email from support which resolved the issue.

Yes and no :-)
I trade UK spreadbetting which means my broker quotes in £ x pip. That means that 0.10 for me is a microlot although TOMs EA describes it as a minilot (the EA actually states "mini account detected")
Therefore is working fine for me but it does not mean it will work fine on standard forex accounts.

@drsong -- as for the first question - start MT4 and check up the log file for experts, if you'll see message like "mini account" detected - check account type of your demo account and change it to micro, or standard. if there would be no such message - then try to re-install MT4, sometimes it might start to return improper values. after re-installing it should work ok
Honestly I'm not completely sure about backend calculations on brokers side, maybe some of our full time traders will be able to help you with this, but yes max positions options inside the EA might be a good idea for the next update

Below is the email I have received in response to my query.
I did exactly as stated in the second part and it worked fine.
1) I have removed the EA from all charts.
2) I have closed all my MT4s
3) I have run the updater
4) I have restarted the MT4s one by one, added EA on the charts and it was fine
Now showing both Authenticated and activated.

Hello,
Thank you for your e-mail.
First of all, please check in the EA properties if Activate EA is set to 'true'.
When set to TRUE – the EA will be trading normal way, adding new positions etc.
When set to FALSE – the EA will keep managing opened positions and levels within current baskets, but no new baskets will appear
If you have the input 'true' on all accounts please follow the steps.
1. Make sure that inside the MT4 at the tab Tools -> Options -> Expert Advisors you have put a checks in front of:"Enable Expert Advisor""Allow llive trading""Allow Dll imports""Allow external experts imports"
And you didn't marked:
"Disable experts when the account has been changed""Disable experts when the profile has been changed""Ask manual confirmation""Confirm DLL function calls"
2. If everything is fine with that setup, please remove the EA from all charts, close your MT4 platforms. Then go to your 'start' menu and find there 'Tom's EA Updater'.
When it will finish update and shut down you can run MT4 platforms again and attach the EA to charts.
3. Make sure that you have the latest version on MT4 - version 4.00 build 409.
4. Check if any security software is not blocking the EA.

thanks for your answer. It is a issue of type of demo account from fxdd. I am good now.
for installation of new version, after running updater and restart MT 4, you may have to restart several times before everything run good. in my case, I have to restart 3 times and restart computer once since tom ea stuck on chect update window. hope this will help.
