Have you switched away from trading oil?

I keep executing my strategy with goal to keep balance as high as possible before trends start. I am not taking speculative trades anymore. The last was eur/jpy yesterday but I picked profit quickly. could not pass excellent short signal on daily. looks like it went further and I might have my signal soon. very bad luck indeed to start trend trading right into long ranging market across the board. considering how many trades I have made few goes even to 2;1 R:R. last e/u trade was 1.5:1 after 7-8 days in trade. i consider this a time stop. especially with this price action, looks like everything has reversed so I am short eur now. no thinking just executing my plan.
although it is a good thing still to keep an eye on weekly chart.
But I will be frank, even one good trend across few pairs can bring account back to starting balance and beyond. Hence consistency in execution is a must. i missed jpy trend exactly because thinking it was going to pull back to buy a t better price.
I am not anymore as much concerned with finding perfect entry but with not missing the trend. can be costly. getting on jpy trend would bring my account back easily.

i am all reversed now. last trade form old guard is aud/cad. I closed aud/nzd and nad/usd despite trends developing cause historically do not see these pairs running much and needed to bring some cash in. These 2 have dissapointed me many times but still I shorted gbp/nzd cause it has a good potential as it is a runner. I am short again, looks like this time it might break out of this range.

ok, e/j was I would call it a half assed signal, but it was for few pairs as well. I decided to take e/j and see what will be going on Sunday/ Monday. if I get stronger confirmation and existing trades move my way i might add few more trades. was a bit late with eur/aud. thinking shorting it a day before but there was no signal unlike eur/nzd and gbp/nzd. all are runners with big potential. gbp/aud too not of late though. aud/cad, i will let it run either stop otr profit. should have closed this garbage anyway. I noticed that those small currencies pairs do make runs but not that often. ok, trends should start sooner or later.

I am also day trading now elsewhere, had to really fight my proclivity towards looking for multiple r:rs. entries are good most of the time resulting in green pips. when I was showing my day trading last time here my average winner was 6 times of average loser. was good time... market changes constantly though. generally speaking it is good idea to check dailies and higher than 15 min charts to see what's going on. to avoid constantly looking for big scores. sometimes picking few pips here and there is all we can expect which is what i am doing.
My trend trading is longer term project. Judging me and my account on how it is doing while in ranging market only cretin like salted crock can do.
I did make a lot of mistakes on my account due to inexperience with this style of trading but I am getting better. Just need trends to show how this is working. There was a glimpse in September but it was a small one. Let's see how this and next month goes. I must assume all signals to continue and turn trend otherwise it would be hard to follow through with constant DD on my account.
It is hard, but in trend following as I see it hit rate does not matter. it is possible to have a lot of losses and scratches and still be profitable. I want to point it is also far less work than day trading when trader has to stay glued to screen all the time.

ok, let's see how far it will go. had not I made mistakes, lot's of them, I would have been well in profit by now. Learning curve. Anyway, working to improve my trading. eur/aud was giving really confusing signals in both direction until i finally went long. should have moved stop on gbp/nzd to be too. i think 2013 will be better as I will pay attention to past mistakes.

Yeah, looks probably. If 90.00 breaks look for 91-93:00 area ut it is such a thing it also can break levels like knife through butter. in any case. be careful. cut loss do not let it run. This thing ain't FX. tend to have very violent moves. The best way to trade is to look for break out failures with tight stops. especially when it is ranging.,..

just came back, so, huge retracement. I expected it but not today. was even thinking of taking half positions if had some 300 pips on e/u and may be on some other pairs. ok, will do nothing. all stopped moved locked a bit of profit. very little so far as there is nothing to lock. eur/nzd and gbp/nzd offcialy in triangles and eur/aud too but there is some space to upper border. we have not reached it.
I had to restrain myself from closing trades. been 14-15% in floating profit. but if I close and it will move into major trend.... it would be really bad. I will let things to play out. will close manually only if price stucks somewhere, make huge over sized daily candle or will get close signal form ma's.

Missing Jpy trend form the signal place is a very painful lesson. I am constantly thinking of it and hence stopped looking for perfect entries. the most important not to miss.

ok, I decided to stop trading this account. Looks like I will have to take partial profits. Just too many times I have been in a lot of %/ pips and turned zero while taking losses and also mistakes which I will try to avoid. Looks like it could have been same today. so, i am opening new account and moving funds there. will connect it to myfxbook and leave demo and current live account as examples of learning curve.
I closed all trades.

ok, I have gone through my trading for the past 6 months. I have got some idea about what I was doing wrong. Actually when it comers to entering trades I was doing much better on demo than on live. I think I was managing trades better on demo too.
Not taking profits put me in DD which is not acceptable. i am going to either lock or take partial profits. Auc/Cad entry in my opinion was faulty as there is no confirmation yet. i tended to enter too early many times. Trades are either speculative for which this one was too late or trend trades for which this one was too early. Aud/Usd trade also was too early. I will not enter this way again. It will be interesting to see how things will go for another 6 months.

closed e/u short. it was speculative entry, so what a heck, decided to take some profit. now signal might be coming so I might reenter next week. few more trades are coming. trying to get some piece from jpy down trend.
a/u looked good in the morning but not now. if ma's cross against me before stop hit I will close.
still some current entries are speculative but because of price action and they are on the verge of signals of trend change.

I am increasing stop sizes. Looks like I have been over leveraging my positions on many pairs especially that I take many trades.
1.5 X ATR20 for every pair. but no less than 100 pips.
