Rich friend vs.Unknown Trader

Whom would you choose - A rich friend who can do anything for you or an unknown guy who is really a great trader ?

Interestingly, I think the trader should choose to be self-reliant. Rich friends may not always support me but if I can become a good trader I can be self-sufficient.
